Code of Conduct and Communication Standards

The World Touring 2000 (WT2000) series in Live for Speed is built upon thrilling competition, professional governance, and mutual respect. This Code of Conduct outlines the non-negotiable standards for every participant—drivers, team managers, and staff—to ensure a positive and sustainable environment for our global community.

By registering for WT2000, all participants acknowledge they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct in its entirety.

1. The Standard of Respectful Communication

All communication related to WT2000—whether on Discord, team channels, in-game chat, voice communications, public social media, or streaming platforms—must be civil and constructive.

TEXT-BASED COMMUNICATION

  • No Aggressive or Condescending Behaviour: We have zero tolerance for language that attempts to assert dominance, dismiss others, or talk down to fellow members. This includes sarcasm, patronizing phrases, or belittling a driver's viewpoint or knowledge.
  • Constructive Criticism Only: All feedback directed at other members or management must be specific and aimed at helping to improve. Avoid general insults or abusive language.
  • Courtesy and Clarity: Please avoid threatening or discriminatory language.
  • Privacy: Do not share any member's personal data, login details, or confidential league information without explicit permission.

VOICE COMMUNICATION

  • Professional Conduct: The same standards of respect apply to voice chat during practice, qualifying, and race sessions.
  • Volume and Clarity: Keep voice communications brief and relevant. Avoid shouting, excessive background noise, or disrupting others' concentration.
  • Push-to-Talk Recommended: To minimize background noise and maintain clear communications, push-to-talk is strongly encouraged during official sessions.
  • Race Communication: Limit voice chat during qualifying & races to essential communications only (e.g., warnings about incidents ahead, blue flag acknowledgments).

2. The Standard of Sportsmanship (On-Track)

Respect on the track is non-negotiable and continues after the checkered flag.

GENERAL RACING CONDUCT

  • Fair Racing Intent: All drivers must operate with full respect for the safety of fellow competitors. There is zero tolerance for intentionally malicious, retaliatory, or aggressively wrecking other cars. Reckless driving that shows habitual disregard for others will lead to sanctions.
  • Knowledge of Rules: All competitors are responsible for knowing and adhering to the specific rules and track limits defined within the Live for Speed simulation and WT2000 regulations.
  • Post-Race Decorum: Sportsmanship is required regardless of a win or loss. Post-race interactions must remain fair and professional.

SPECIFIC ON-TRACK SCENARIOS

Qualifying Sessions

  • Respect Hot Laps: Drivers on out-laps or cool-down laps must yield to drivers on hot laps. Check your mirrors and move off the racing line well in advance.
  • Awareness: Be mindful of faster traffic approaching from behind. Use the relative timing display to anticipate other drivers' positions.
  • Aborted Laps: If you abort a lap, immediately move off the racing line and allow others to pass safely.

Race Starts

  • First Lap Responsibility: Exercise additional caution on Lap 1. All drivers share responsibility for avoiding incidents in the opening corners.

Blue Flags

  • Lapped Traffic: When shown a blue flag, you must allow the faster car to pass safely within a reasonable time (typically within 1-2 corners).
  • Predictability: Hold your line and lift slightly if necessary. Do not make sudden defensive moves or block faster cars.

Incident Recovery and Rejoining

  • Safe Rejoin: After an off-track excursion or incident, you must rejoin the track safely without impeding other drivers. Wait for a clear gap.
  • Full Responsibility: The rejoining driver bears full responsibility for ensuring their rejoin does not cause contact or force other drivers to take evasive action.
  • Damage Assessment: If your car is significantly damaged and affecting your pace, consider your impact on other drivers and whether continuing is appropriate.

5. Technical Conduct and Fair Competition

All participants must compete fairly within the technical regulations of Live for Speed and WT2000.

  • No Exploits: Using game exploits, bugs, or mechanics in unintended ways to gain competitive advantage is strictly prohibited.
  • Technical Integrity: Any modifications to the Live for Speed installation that provide competitive advantage (beyond allowed custom textures/skins) are prohibited.
  • Suspected Cheating: Any suspicion of technical cheating must be reported to management immediately through proper channels. Do not make public accusations.

6. Accountability and Enforcement

WT2000 Management holds the sole authority to review incidents and impose sanctions in a fair and consistent manner.

REPORTING INCIDENTS

  • Proper Channels: If you are impacted by another driver, you can report it in the Stewards Office channel.
  • Protest Deadlines: On-track incidents must be protested within 48 hours of the race conclusion.
  • Required Information: Protests must include specific details, timestamps, and evidence (replays, screenshots, clips) when applicable.
  • No Vigilante Justice: Drivers must never attempt to deliver "justice" themselves on the track. Retaliation is treated as seriously as the original offense.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSE

  • Review Timeline: Management will acknowledge protests within 48 hours and aims to issue decisions within 5 days of receiving complete information.
  • Investigation: Management may request additional information, replays, or perspectives from involved parties during investigation.
  • Transparency: Decisions on protests will be communicated to the involved parties with reasoning. Significant penalties may be announced to the league.

PROGRESSIVE CONSEQUENCES

Violations will be addressed using a tiered framework:

  • Written Warning: For minor, first-time infractions or excusable mistakes. This is a private, educational notification that will be logged in the driver's record.
  • Temporary Sanction: For repeated minor offenses or a single, serious incident of misconduct. Sanctions may include: Race exclusion or disqualification; Grid penalties for subsequent races; Points deductions; Temporary suspension from communication channels; Mandatory break from competition (1-3 races).
  • Extended Suspension: For severe or repeated violations after previous sanctions. May include suspension for multiple events or remainder of season.
  • Total Ban: Reserved for the most severe actions, including: Cheating or technical manipulation; Targeted discrimination or harassment; Intentional malicious wrecking with intent to harm others' championship; Habitual refusal to comply with administrative warnings; Threats of violence or doxxing.

APPEALS PROCESS

  • Right to Appeal: Participants may appeal decisions for extended suspensions, or bans only.
  • Appeal Timeline: Appeals must be submitted within 72 hours of the penalty decision.
  • Appeal Submission: Submit appeals in writing to management via the designated appeals channel, including specific grounds for appeal and any additional evidence.
  • Appeal Review: A panel of management will review appeals and issue a final decision within 7 days when possible.
  • Final Decision: Appeal decisions are final. Further appeals will not be considered except in cases of new evidence.

  • All registered drivers must acknowledge they have read and agree to this Code of Conduct.
  • Team managers must ensure all team members have read and understood these standards.
