What is a Touring Car?
Core Definition
Touring cars are production-based racing vehicles that maintain their connection to road-going counterparts. These are the cars you could theoretically see on the street, modified for competitive racing.
- Production-based sedans or hatchbacks - Must have a road-going counterpart available to consumers
- Enclosed cockpit - Full roof structure required (no convertibles or open-top vehicles)
- Four seats - Designed as a 4 or 5-seater vehicle (even if racing seats replace rear seats)
- Four doors - Traditional configuration (some series allow 2-door coupes)
- Front-engine layout - Traditional front-engine design
Eligibility Rules
✓ Body Style
Sedans, hatchbacks, estates/wagons, and sport coupes are permitted for competition.
✗ Exclusions
SUVs, crossovers, pickup trucks, supercars, purpose-built race cars, and open-wheelers are not permitted.
🏭 Production Requirement
Vehicle must be based on a real production car sold to consumers, not concepts or race-only models.
📏 Modifications
To preserver realism, engine swaps and drivetrain changes are not permitted.
